Today we are taking a page out of Martha Stewart’s book. Not going to jail for insider trading, but rather doing flower arrangements. Clara is a master of flower power and makes beautiful arrangements. She has also read the entire 933 pages of the Manual of Woody Plants. ‘ Wait!’ you say, ‘that’s ranunculus!’. It certainly is. Here she is with one of her delightful arrangements.

Clara in Beckerman
Of course the Beckermans are friends with Cookiesurge. They live over on their blog http://beckermanbiteplate.blogspot.com/. That is Sam and Calliane Beckerman, talented designers both. Today’s episode finds CookieSurge with our mascot, Clara, modeling a Beckerman-selected vintage vest (investment) with a fun pony tail. Cookiesurge is crazy for pony tails, especially side pony tails, which are so popular in Japan. There they are called yokopony, which literally means side-pony. (in truth, CookieSurge made up that term and uses it when speaking Japanese, where it wears itself well amongst the rest of his broken Japanese)
have a ponytail you’d like featured on CookieSurge? great! find our email and email us!
Clara in Rain Gear
Here is our CookieSurge mascot Clara in her Muji designed rain jacket. Its cute and fashionable, and it seems to have stopped raining so take it off Clara. but i can see why she continues to wear it in the sun, its cute!
Clara is with her Pashley bike when we caught up with her on the fashionable mile of Bloor St, Toronto. A great ensemble, with a highly regarded almost-plum shade of helmit. You see that this blog post is almost up, and you are saying, ‘how can he not mention her shoes?’ so now i am mentioning them . so there.
Clara at Lunch
no fashion today, just deciding about what to have for lunch, with our mascot Clara. I bet she ordered cookies….
Avi in stripey shirt by H & M
Avi is often seen round town sporting his trade mark stripes. CookieSurge last ran into him on Toronto’s Bloor street outside the Bata Shoe museum wearing pink and green stripes. In todays episode, we find Avi at the Gladstone Hotel opening of his cousin’s art exhibition, sporting an H & M t shirt – lime green with multicolor stripes.
Here, as I am sure you are dying to read, is the interview:
CS: You like stripes because its like for the way it shapes your appearance?
Avi: yes its like a visual thing, playing tricks on peoples eyes. Since im tall and skinny I want to be like more grounded and wide.
CS: So stripes have a future
Avi: Oh yeah yeah yeah, its a classic style, not going anywhere – I’ve got lots of tops.
CS: How many do you think you have?
Avi: (Looks up while mentally counting) Good question, but I know that atleast like 6.
CS: 6, thats pretty good. So… its almost daily. You just choose one per day and then you have one day off.
Avi: Sometimes I go check, you know, sometimes I go bold colors, my Mom really likes me wearing red – red is big.
CS: Red has big future – or its just NOW?
Avi: No red is always
CS: Its always – everything is classic with you.
Avi: yeah red is hot
CS: Okay next is cookies - what is your favorite type of cookie?
Avi: Peanut butter cookies, I make them myself (wide grin)
CS: You have a recipe.
Avi: Yeah its like really simple I think its off the back of a peanut butter jar. No, no joke - its just peanut butter and eggs and sugar. Brilliant.
CS: Great. Clara [CS mascot] is saying that if you look at the side of an oreo its like stripes.
Avi: yes it has that striated look. I agree with that.
CS: Thanks for the interview!

New York Times Reports on Edible Clothing; Agricultural Commodities Climb
Today the New York Times reported on edible clothing, which, as long time CookieSurge readers will surely know, has been a major interest of mine. Edible Fashion Turns Ephemera Into an Art is the Times headline, though a better headline would be Record High Cotton Prices Sends Clothing Makers To New Materials. Its true, cotton prices are at a 140 year high. Of course, food futures have been rising as well, but with recycling an even more over-bought commodity, eating our used clothing seems the only alternative. Of course, vintage edible clothing has a flavour not unlike a fine aged cheese, so the market seems to be strong for edible clothing anywhere along the futures curve. Edible clothing is in contango.
This begs the question when will we see the inveitable cookie dress. This will be a very crumbly undertaking, and special techinology will be needed to stop the choclolate chips from melting. Of course, at the evening’s end, many men would don bibs and drool upon seeing the crumbly-chocolate-melty mess of a woman in a cookie dress. That is half of the appeal. And half the calories.
“The Rise of Edible Clothing” is a headline that will soon overwhelm “the Rise of China” and “The Rise of Global Temperatures” as the most important discussed in intellectual circles. Of course accessories have already reached the edible state among the young with children gorging themselves on candy necklaces and ringpops. Designers need to use caution in bringing the edible clothing trend to its logical conclusion, as a poprocks shirt could be painful and noisy. Many see edible clothing as only an amuse bouche to the next major breakthrough in couture: wearable fashion.

Clara is a very fashionable woman, as well as our blog mascot. Here she models a very chillaxed Paul Frank monkey doing it yoga-style. Perfect for lazing around the beach house in the US Virgin Isles. We are lucky to see such a behind the scenes view of Clara and we all thank her for inaugurating this blog, the world’s most powerful cookie related fashion blog.
Now for the interview:
CookieSurge: What is your personal style philosophy?
Clara: my personal style philosophy is to take cues from animals. sometimes i go for monkey, sometimes bird, sometimes cheetah.
CookieSurge: What do you see as the future of monkey-based clothing?
Clara: monkeys are the future. i was born in the year of the monkey. the colour yellow and faux fur body suits will dominate the future.
CookieSurge: what is your favorite cookie?
Clara: my ab fab fav cookie is banana dark choco chip. i really fight hard with other monkeys to get my hands on these cookies.
